• 8 REASONS A SOS MISSION TRIP IS A GOOD IDEA

  • 1. Our team has over 25 years of experience sending teams and traveling through Africa.

  • 2. If you have never been on a mission like this, no problem. Through a variety of short videos and different resources what we expect you to do we train you for it.

  • 3. It's a faith-based mission trip, not a cool adventure or a vacation. Meaning, you will be out of your comfort zone. That's a good thing!

  • 4. You will serve and show the love of Jesus to the poorest people in the world.

  • 5. You will heal the sick, cast out demons, and preach the Gospel. You will live the Book of Acts!

  • 6. From early in the morning until late at night we will labor to see the lost saved. Whether we are on a street corner, ophanage, a prison or at the festival grounds.

  • 7. You will be an integral part of a great harvest of souls. Thousands will come to know Jesus.

  • 8. This mission will be supernatural, intense, unforgettable, and life-changing, for you and certainly for those you will be serving.

Monday - Tuesday

Wake up. Pray. Breakfast. Team devotional. Out the door by 9 am. The majority of us will be on busy street corners and market places. Some of us will serve at places like prison, orphanages or hospitals. We will preach, lay hands on the sick, hug, smile, dance, act, and love on those we come in contact with. Sleep by 10 pm (or so).

Wednesday - Sunday

In the mornings, we are on different street outreaches. In the afternoons, we head to our Signs and Wonders Festival. There we will dance, pray for the sick, cast out demons and support the festival in any way necessary.

FLY HOME

The majority of us have the day off on Monday. Then on Tuesday we fly home. You will be the happiest missionary in town, the most tired and suit cases full of awesome Jesus stories. It may be hard to process it all so SOS will help you reintegrate healthily.

Do you have more questions about the mission ?

  • Your passport is proof of your citizenship.

Each team member will need a passport to travel to Africa.

For US team members, you must have a passport book, not the passport card.

If you do not have a passport, or if your current passport expires within 6 months of the end of the mission, you will need to apply for a new passport.

Every country’s fees and turn-around time is different. For the USA, it’s about $170 and 1-2 months turn around.

  • Visas are an entry requirement for every nation in Africa. Costs range from $50-$150. Some countries require you to apply for a Visa before traveling and some countries you get it on-arrival. It’s important to have cash, clean and large bills for the on arrival Visa fees.

  • Many of the nations we travel to either require or strongly suggest that you receive certain immunizations or take prophylaxis medications to help ensure you remain healthy both during and after you travel. For a list of the immunizations/medications that are required &/or recommended for the country you will be traveling to, visit the CDC

website (https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/list), select the nation of destination and the information will be provided.

We ask that all team members visit their personal physician or a travel clinic at least 12 weeks before departure to discuss the trip location and to develop an immunization/medication plan.

  • Team Leaders will shop for the best deal and buy airfare in a group contract. SOS works with a Travel Agency called Highpoint, but you don’t have to use them. The only requirement is that you submit your itinerary to SOS for approval before purchasing. If you are coming as an individual you can use any site on the internet. As an individual, you also submit itinerary for approval before purchasing it.

  • 4 Months before the mission:

About $1,000 is due for airfare

    3 Months before the Mission

About $1000 is due for airfare

    2 Months before the Mission

About $500 is due for Ground Fees (incl. $100 app fee)

    1 Month before the Mission

About $500 is due for Ground Fees as well as the remainder for the airfare (which might be about $500)

You can fundraise all ground fees including the $100 application fees through SOS’s Gateway. You cannot use the Gateway to fundraise for your airfare. That has to be done through your personal means or through the church you are going with.

  • Every minor (under 18 years old) must be accompanied by a legal guardian fully approved by parents and SOS. That guardian must be willing to present with minor 100% of the time while on the mission. Same team, same hotel and same schedules.

4 year olds and under only pays $100 for application fee

5-12 yrs old ground fees are $450 + $100 application fee

  • SOS will provide emergency health insurance, medical assistance, evacuation and safety during the sudden occurrence of a political or military event through Generali Global Assistance.

“EVERY SHORT-TERM MISSION IS A PLATFORM FOR LONG-TERM MISSIONS”

It’s the heart of Jesus that we live on-mission in whatever context we find ourselves. After you return, you may feel a great urge to get involved in missions. We highly encourage you to serve the mission vision of your church! Also, you may want to reconsider your giving, praying and going commitment.

Should you feel a call from God for long-term missions or want to receive further training you can join our 10-month Harvest internship, or our Mission Bible School in Kenya or Sweden.
